OHPS Welcomes New Director of Strategic Communications and Family Engagement

Posted Date: 10/27/26 (03:13 PM)

Oak Harbor Public Schools is thrilled to announce Kent Keller as our new Director of Strategic Communications and Family Engagement.

Kent brings extensive experience in strategic communications, public affairs, crisis communication, and community engagement. Prior to joining our district, he served for more than a decade as a sworn police officer and later as the Strategic Communications Manager with the Greeley Police Department in Colorado. Throughout his career, he has focused on building community trust, strengthening relationships, and ensuring clear, thoughtful communication.

Kent holds a bachelor's degree in Public Management and a master's degree in Organizational Leadership. His belief that effective communication is about more than sharing information, it is about building trust, listening, and helping people feel heard, aligns beautifully with our district's commitment to strong family and community partnerships.

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Kent and his wife, Ashley, along with their 15 month old daughter, Callahan, are excited to make Oak Harbor their new home. During the transition, Kent will be available remotely.

We are delighted to welcome Kent and his family to our community! We look forward to the experience, energy, and fresh perspectives he will bring as we continue strengthening our schools and community together.

Please join us in extending a warm #OneOakHarbor welcome to the Keller family!
