  • The safety of our students and staff is always our first priority in Oak Harbor Public Schools. Our school adopted the “I Love U Guys” Standard Response Protocol (SRP). Students and staff are trained for procedures on five specific actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. More information on our safety procedures can be found on our website

    Check Your Emergency Contact Information

Back to School time is a great opportunity to double check that your student’s emergency contact information is up to date in our Skyward Student Information System. In order to receive emergency phone calls and text alerts, you will need to make sure you have a cell phone listed in the second phone number line in Skyward. If you are not sure how to update or check your phone number listed, please contact your school’s front office for support.

    Door Intercoms

With the exception of Crescent Harbor Elementary and Hand-in-Hand/HomeConnection schools, who will be receiving this safety enhancement in their new school buildings, all other Oak Harbor schools will implement a new door-locking system and related procedures in the 2025-2026 school year. Olympic View Elementary and Oak Harbor Intermediate School piloted the program during the 2024-2025 school year.

Signage with instructions will be installed at all of the schools to inform visitors of the new procedures. When you arrive at one our schools piloting the program after school begins, you will need to be buzzed in to be able to enter the school through the front door. You will see a device with a button and a camera near the front door entrance, you will then press the button the device, which will alert our front office staff that someone needs to be let into the building. Visitors should prepare to state their name and purpose for visiting when they arrive. Once you are buzzed in, you will proceed to the front office to be checked in. More information and frequently asked questions can be found on our website

    Visitor Management System

Keeping our students and staff safe means knowing who is in our school buildings at all times in the unlikely case of an emergency. The visitor management system allows us to electronically screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers coming into our schools. The system replaces the old paper visitor sign-in sheets. All visitors will be asked during regular school hours to present a form of identification to enter school grounds or to check a student out of a school site.
