City of Oak Harbor and Oak Harbor Public Schools to Share Potential Opportunities for Additional Field Space
OAK HARBOR, WA – July 14, 2026 – The City of Oak Harbor and Oak Harbor Public Schools invite the community to a Community Catch Up event focused on the future of athletic fields in Oak Harbor.
The event will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., and will feature Mayor Ronnie Wright, Superintendent Dr. Michelle Kuss-Cybula, and State Representative Dave Paul, who will discuss potential opportunities for additional field space and the collaborative efforts to meet the growing needs of youth sports in the community.
As interest in additional athletic fields continues to grow, residents have asked what opportunities exist and what the future could look like. This Community Catch Up is designed to provide information directly from local leaders, answer community questions, and share visual concepts of potential opportunities currently being explored.
"When our community shared its concerns about the need for more field space, we listened," said Mayor Ronnie Wright. "This Community Catch Up is an opportunity to bring everyone together, discuss potential opportunities, and continue working collaboratively to create more fields.”
The evening will include a presentation and visual displays highlighting potential opportunities for additional field space. There will also be an opportunity for residents to ask questions and speak with staff.
Superintendent Kuss-Cybula commented, "This partnership between the City of Oak Harbor and Oak Harbor Public Schools represents what is possible when agencies come together to address community needs. By sharing a proposed vision for the future of field space and schools in Oak Harbor, we hope it will foster conversations that lead to strategic, efficient, and responsive long-term solutions for our community.”
Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the opportunities being explored. The event is family-friendly.
