The Oak Harbor School Board of Directors appointed Oak Harbor High School sophomore Susie Diamond as its newest student representative at the Monday, May 11, School Board Meeting. Diamond will serve as the junior student representative next school year, following the graduation of current senior student board representative Allena Locklear.
“I truly love this community and would be honored to represent Oak Harbor as a whole,” said Diamond. “The people here have shown me so much kindness and helped me adapt, and I want to help other students feel that same sense of belonging.”

Oak Harbor Public Schools is proud to announce that Hillcrest, Crescent Harbor, and Olympic View Elementary Schools have been recognized by the Washington State Board of Education and the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction for their success in advancing student growth, academic achievement, and closing opportunity gaps during the 2024–2025 school year.

Ms. Reed is a familiar and trusted face at North Whidbey Middle School having served as a special education teacher for 19 years and an Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) coach. Following an extremely strong pool of applicants, Amanda stood out for her depth of experience, leadership qualities, and clear passion for supporting students and staff.

Families from Crescent Harbor Elementary, Hand-in-Hand Early Learning Center/HomeConnection/Oak Harbor Virtual Academy, and Olympic View Elementary are invited to share feedback with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on the future of our school facilities. The family input session will be on May 18 at 12:30 PM at our district office located at 350 S Oak Harbor Street.
Topics include school conditions, impacts on students and military families, and ideas for improvement. Your input will help shape recommendations to Congress! We hope you are able to attend.

Opening night for the "She Kills Monsters" production by Qui Nguyen, performed by Oak Harbor Drama Club on May 14, was a hit! Piper Tubbs ‘26 and Lucille Wind ‘26 play the two main sisters, supported by an amazing cast and crew of students, including Preston Turner ‘26, Elizabeth McDaniel ‘27, Piper Ehrhart ‘26, and Brian Goodman ‘27. Students worked incredibly hard to produce something entertaining and impressive, and you still have time to witness it! The show goes on Friday (5/15) and Saturday (5/16) at 7! Doors open at 6:30. There is also a matinee show on Saturday, starting at 2, doors open at 1:30. Tickets are $10, so be sure to come and support Drama Club!

- The Girls Varsity Softball team celebrated their seniors, Layla Suto, Reese Wasinger, Jayda Paynter, Dominique Bell, and Kaitlyn Marley on Friday, May 1. The Oak Harbor girls delivered an impressive performance against Meridian, winning the game with a remarkable 18-1 victory!
- The girls golf team captured their 5th straight District Championship! Leading the way was tournament medalist Scarlett Nations, who fired rounds of 77 and 76 to win the individual title by 6 strokes. Reagan Syring, tied for first after day one, finished 5th overall with a two-day total of 164. Freshman Olivia Stewart placed 9th with a 170, Sidney Louis finished 11th with a 175, and Annalise Wesley placed 15th with a 181. As a team, the girls dominated the field, winning the district title by 57 strokes over Snohomish. The tournament featured 63 participants representing 12 schools.
- The Girls Varsity Tennis Team faced Bellingham High School for their annual Senior Night on May 5. Each player worked hard from start to finish, celebrating small and large victories. Their passion for the sport was clear in the way they played, supported their teammates, and respected their opponents.
