Oak Harbor High School Junior Gwen Miller was sworn in as a student representative of the Oak Harbor School Board at the Monday, September 8 board meeting. Miller fills the junior student representative position, joining Senior Allena Locklear on the board. Miller was selected from a competitive pool of six finalists at the May 12 board meeting.

Student representatives on the School Board help ground district and school board decision-making in student voice by participating in critical conversations and sharing student perspective on issues.

During the selection process in May, Miller said she hopes to address mental health support and resources for students in her new role.
