VFW Youth Contests

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in our future generation.  Each year they offer several contests for students to participate in.

 

Department of Washington Youth Essay (Grades 3-5)

This contest encourages our youth to examine history along with their own beliefs by drafting an essay of no more than 250 words expressing their views.  The theme is Why are Veterans so important to us?  Students should submit their entry to Whitehead-Muzzall Post 7392, 3037 N. Goldie Road, Oak Harbor, WA 98277, by midnight, October 31, 2022Download and complete the 2022-2023 entry form here

 

Illustrating America Art Contest (Grades K-8)

This art contest encourages students’ artistic abilities and rewards their hard work. There are national awards for first, second, and third place in each grade division.
