Welcome to first grade!

 

My name is Miranda Boon and this is my fourth year teaching 1st grade at Hillcrest. I was fortunate enough to do my student teaching internship at Hillcrest and receive a 1st-grade position immediately following. I love Hillcrest and think it is the absolute best school to be at! We have an amazing garden and chickens that bring our students closer to nature and the world around them.

 

I am so pleased to have your student in my class this year and look forward to getting to know them as an individual. We do weekly class shares so that students can tell our class about themselves and share things many of us may not have known. Family is a huge part of our classroom community and we always welcome parents and family to come in and volunteer or read to the class.

 

Communication is very important to me. I try to send out newsletters with important information while simultaneously avoiding spamming you with non-essentials. For this reason, I will send newsletters as needed. I am ALWAYS happy to respond to emails or phone calls with specific questions. I check my email frequently after school and always try to respond as soon as possible.
