  • Welcome to second grade at Olympic View Elementary! This is my sixth year teaching in the Oak Harbor School District. I have been teaching first and second grade for almost 20 years. I live in Coupeville, and I have a cat named Pearl. She is the queen of our house! I spend my spare time reading, walking, playing the piano, knitting, and working in the garden. This summer I went to Montana to study sustainability, and I serve on the Oak Harbor School District Sustainability team.  I also went camping, flew to my nephew's wedding in California, and had fun with friends and family.  It was a fantastic summer, but I'm ready to be back to school. I love learning right along with my students.  I have a Bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University, a Master in Music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Master in Teaching from Whitworth University.

In second grade we do a lot of math and we learn double digit and triple digit addition and subtraction. We write personal narratives, informational texts and opinion pieces. We study community in Social Studies, and matter, engineering, and earth materials in Science. We work on both handwriting and keyboarding. We read informational texts, biographies, poems, and of course fiction stories!
