  • Welcome to second grade at Olympic View Elementary! This is my fifth year teaching in the Oak Harbor School District. I have been teaching first and second grade for more than 18 years. I live in Coupeville, and I have a cat named Pearl. She is the queen of our house! I spend my spare time reading, walking, playing the piano, and knitting. This summer I visited Ireland and England with my sister.  We saw so many amazing things!  It was an fantastic summer, but I'm ready to be back to school. I love learning right along with my students.  I have a Bachelor’s degree from Seattle Pacific University, a Master in Music from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a Master in Teaching from Whitworth University.

In second grade we spend a lot of time working on our math facts to 20, and we learn double digit and triple digit addition and subtraction. We write personal narratives, informational texts and opinion pieces. We study community in Social Studies, and matter, engineering and earth materials in Science. We work on both handwriting and keyboarding. We read informational texts, biographies, poems, and of course fiction stories!
