Hi. Welcome to my classroom website. Currently, I am the life skill's teacher at Oak Harbor Intermediate School. I am very excited that I have this opportunity to share information with you on this site.
I have been an educator since 1983 when I started my first job as a general education teacher at Kingman Junior High School where I taught Science and Math to seventh and eighth-graders. Since that time, I have worked as an elementary school teacher, school guidance counselor, adjunct college professor, and a special education teacher.
I earned my Associate degree from Arizona Western College in Home Economics/ Early Childhood Education in 1980; my Bachelor's degree from Arizona State University in Elementary Education with a minor in Science in 1983; my Masters in Education from Northern Arizona University in School Guidance Counselor in 1990; endorsements from University of Phoenix- English as a Second Language (1995), Principal (2001); and Seattle Pacific University in Special Education (2005).
We moved to the Northwest in 2002 and I was hired at the ESD 189 to work with special education students- 8th grade through 12th. I was hired as a life skill teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School in 2004 and was hired in 2017 for my current position at Oak Harbor Intermediate School as a Life skill teacher for 5th & 6th-grade students.
I enjoy attending antique sales on the weekend with my husband and daughter. We also enjoy traveling around the Pacific Northwest and exploring new places! Currently, we are residing in Oak Harbor with our daughter, Kendra, three dogs (Pugo, Scout, and Jazmine), four birds, one cat, a snake, a gecko, and a fish. Our son, Matt, lives and works in Bellingham, WA.
