Welcome to Ms. Kearney's Health Class!
I'm so excited to teach your students this year! This year, I am teaching 4 sections of 7th grade Health and 1 section of 8th grade Physical Education. This is my first year as an educator and I'm very happy to be in Oak Harbor. I grew up in Snohomish and have spent the past several years in Bellingham, which is where I still currently live! I received my degree in Biology from Western Washington University in 2019 and my Master's in Teaching from Woodring College of Education in 2022. I enjoy being outside, cooking vegetarian foods, hanging out with my cats, and playing Nintendo Switch.
In Health class, we begin by learning about wellness and the four areas of health: physical, emotional, mental, and social. We continue expanding on this throughout our 12 weeks by studying traits of good character, bullying and cyberbullying, building healthy relationships, reproductive health, and dealing with mental and emotional stress. Our focus is on helping students become considerate, collaborative, and hard-working individuals in my classroom.
I'm looking forward to getting to know your student through our health class!
