Hello! My name is Kara Diaz and I am honored to be your child's 6th grade Literacy teacher. I am originally from Oahu, Hawaii, where I taught Secondary English for 3 years. I am excited to begin my 5th year of teaching here at OHI. 

6th grade Literacy is an exciting year for students to prepare for middle school. In ELA, we use the Wit & Wisdom curriculum to explore different genres while honing skills such as critical reading, explanatory and argumentative writing, and engaging in evidence-based discussions. In Social Studies, we explore Ancient Civilations and continue to build our literacy skills through projects.
