Welcome to Oak Harbor Intermediate School! My name is Makena Tennies and I am so excited to be your 5th Grade Literacy Teacher. We will be reading novels, writing stories, and studying American history together. My goal is for students to grow as readers and leaders this year.
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. This will be my 4th year teaching 5th Grade and my 2nd year at OHI! The Navy brought my family to Whidbey Island a few years ago. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and hiking with my Golden Retriever, Oakley!
