Ms. Hannah Adamson

  • My name is Hannah Adamson and I love fifth grade! My family has been a part of the island community for many years now. I come from a family of teachers all around! My husband, Tyler Adamson, works as our district's School Resource Officer. Together we are a dynamic duo working for our schools and community! We welcomed our first child, Cecelia Adamson, into the world on October 22, 2021. We can't wait to watch her grow up in the community we love so much!

This is my fifth year working in the district, fourth year with OHI in fifth grade. I earned a bachelor's in teaching from Florida College in 2018, and a masters in TESOL Education from Grand Canyon University in 2021. I am extremely passionate about what I do and love to bring the joy of learning to my students. In my classroom, students will be learning about American History, starting with Indigenous history, and going all the way to the American Revolution! We also spend time reading novels to enhance our critical literacy skills. Research shows that creativity directly links to student academic success, so expect to see a lot of fun projects and interactive activities in class.

I believe communication is key to building strong relationships with my students and their families. I like to stay responsive to parents and communicate through phone chats, email, class dojo, and in-person conferences. Feel free to reach out to me whenever you have questions or concerns! In class, I practice positive reinforcement rather than strict discipline. Students are rewarded when they succeed, even if it is a small success! Celebrating achievements is an excellent way to reinforce a love of learning.
