I am Ashley Green, the librarian at Olympic View Elementary school. I began teaching in 2008. I was also a children’s librarian with Sno-Isle Libraries before I came back to teaching. This is my second year as the Teacher-Librarian at Olympic View Elementary School. I am originally from Alabama; the Navy brought my husband and me here, and now that he’s out of the Navy, we have decided to make Oak Harbor our home.
I am passionate about reading and writing. I believe books can help students learn more about themselves and inspire them to dream big dreams. The library is an essential place for students to learn about not only themselves but also the world around them. Technology is a tool to gain greater understanding and greater access to knowledge and learning. I strive to teach these reading, writing, and technology skills to my students so that they will be prepared for their future.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, and traveling. I can’t get enough of Earl Grey tea or coffee. My favorite children’s novels are the Harry Potter series, and my favorite picture book is Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell; I also love fairy tales. My husband and I have a cat named Ivy and a golden retriever named Sadie.
