Hello and Welcome to First grade!

I am super excited to be your child's first-grade teacher this year! The 2022-23 school year will be my fifth year teaching at Hillcrest Elementary. I graduated from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. My husband is in the Navy and flies the Growler. We moved to Whidbey in January of 2018 and I was lucky enough to land in first grade at Hillcrest! We got married in July 2021, so some remember me as Ms. Becker!

Every student is welcomed and valued in my classroom for who they are. I encourage students to be engaged in learning by maintaining a positive environment filled with respect and kindness. I love teaching 6 and 7-year-olds and inspiring them to learn and strive for their goals! First grade is such an exciting place to be because I get to watch them grow from tiny seeds to bright flowers right when they step into my classroom to their very last day with me. I look forward to this year and sharing this journey with you and your child!
