  • Dear Students and Families:

Kindergarten is where the school adventure begins and I am SO excited to be on this journey with you!

Our kindergarten journey will take us on an exciting learning adventure. We'll be studying several science themes, including "Push, Pull, Go; Living Things and Their Needs;" and "Weather and Sky." In social studies, we'll be studying friends, families, and neighborhoods, as well as working together in our classroom community. We'll be learning handwriting, writing (including narrative writing, informational writing, and opinion writing). In reading, we'll be focusing on our letters and kindergarten sight words; and in math we'll be working up to addition and subtraction to 10, as well as recognizing teen numbers (12, 13, 14, etc.). We'll also be working on counting to 100. Finally, after Winter Break we'll be starting our keyboarding curriculum.

A little about me: My family and I have called Oak Harbor home for the past 11 years. My eldest son, (age 14) went to Hillcrest, and my youngest (age 10) is currently a student at Hillcrest. Hillcrest feels like a second home to me, and I'm excited to be part of the Heron Family.

I can't wait to work with you to help your student reach his/her highest potential!
