It is with great excitement that we begin this school year at North Whidbey Middle School. I have been teaching science for several years now including a brief position with the National Science Foundation. Each year is different and every day is an adventure. I look forward to working with all of you this year. In fact, I know that your child will be more successful this year if we work together to tap their potential.
We'll begin this year with a study on the structure of matter and an introduction to the periodic table. These topics can sometimes feel daunting to students and I encourage you, as parents, to support your child by advising them to ask questions during class. Often students are wary of asking for clarification during class time, however, this is the surest and quickest way to clarify misconceptions and help me, as their educator, ensure their eventual success. We will have lots of opportunities this semester to do lab work and (hopefully) some exciting demonstrations. To learn more, visit my 'Resources' page where I'll keep you updated about our current projects. I look forward to meeting you soon.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Koorn
