“I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.” ~J.K. Rowling

    Hello!

This is my fourth year at North Whidbey Middle School teaching 7th grade ELA. I love teaching, writing, and sharing my passion/obsession for literature. My goal is to share my joy of English with your children, along with providing a safe environment where they can grow as learners, have fun, and enjoy education. 7th grade ELA will target students’ growth in the areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking, discussion, reflection, and viewing. Reading strategies, critical thinking skills, and vocabulary building comprise the main elements of reading instructions. Through fiction, nonfiction, and poetry reading, students will practice reading strategies and comprehension skills. The focus of writing will be on narrative, informational, and argumentative. The overall goal of the class is to increase the literacy and writing ability of students. To learn more, please view the syllabus link. I look forward to meeting you soon! Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

    Sincerely,

    Kirsten Dresker
