Mabuhay! Bienvenido! Velkommen! Welcome Students and Families,
This will be my second year as an Explorer. Returning to First Grade has been a natural progression. Though I have taught First in both California and Utah, I have spent a great portion of my career as a Kindergarten Teacher in a myriad of environments and settings.
In September we will be laying the foundation on our class 'family's' environment ... our expectations on how we act, acknowledgements of citizenship, as well as consequences. This will allow us to achieve at the best of our abilities.
Your children will be reviewing letter names and sounds. We will be playing with sounds and letters by both putting them together to make words as well as taking words apart. These two tasks alone are vital to reading and writing. We will be playing with quantity, pattern, and shapes.
Throughout the year we will be exploring history, culture, health, science, and citizenship. The resources link will have information regarding current and upcoming topics.Sincerely,Mr. Orkiolla
