Dear Students and Families,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to kindergarten at Hillcrest Elementary. We have a wonderful team at Hillcrest, and we are thrilled that you will be a part of it! This will be my seventh year teaching kindergarten, and I feel that I have the best job in the world.

As our year begins, we will be learning about: letters, sounds, rhyme, isolating phonemes, blending CVC words, numbers, shapes, adding, subtracting, & understanding word problems. We will also focus on social-emotional learning through purposeful play.

Also, the students will have a reading log that I call the RED folder. They are expected to read 10 minutes a night at least five times a week. I will check the folders weekly and log their days for their homework grade. Watching the growth of your child will be such an amazing experience. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of that journey. I look forward to our partnership in your child's education.
