Welcome to Room 7 at Hillcrest!
My name is Alysha Jannot and I will be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year! This is my 6th year teaching, all in Kindergarten, and I have come to learn that it is my home and happy place. I began my teaching career at Oak Harbor Elementary where I taught Kindergarten for 2 years. I then moved to Hillcrest and was here for a year and a few months before my husband’s career took us south. I taught Kindergarten in the middle of the desert for a year in California prior to moving back to Whidbey Island. We enjoyed the year-round sun but realized the Pacific Northwest was home. With the pandemic came the challenge of finding a job--I started last year teaching Kindergarten virtually for a district off-island before returning to Hillcrest to finish out the year in Kindergarten. Hillcrest is home for me! It truly is a special place to teach!
To me, your child and their peers become a classroom family. We learn to share, solve problems, and grow our brains all through play. And while this year our learning may look different, it certainly will not feel different. We will still continue to learn through play as best we can and adapt to the challenges as they come, together.
I enjoy reading, hiking, the outdoors, and playing with my three girls! We truly love the PNW and love getting out when we can to explore!
I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to be your child’s Kindergarten teacher this year. Please feel free to call or email if you ever have any questions or concerns. We are in this TOGETHER!Sincerely,Mrs. Jannot
