Mr. Brandon Nelson

  • Welcome Message

    Dear Students and Families,

Here at Oak Harbor High School, we offer a myriad of band activities, including regular band classes, a varsity band, a jazz band, drumline, band club, parent boosters, and marching bands for parades & halftime shows.  In all of our performing groups, we teach the fundamentals of good sound, music literacy, and performance techniques.

I am excited to share my experiences from my years as a band director, drumline coach, private lesson teacher, and from working as a professional performer.  I earned my Master of Music Performance from Portland State University, my Bachelor of Music Education from the University of North Texas, and before coming to Oak Harbor, I worked as a band director and drumline coach in Oregon and Texas.  Outside of the classroom, I perform on drumset and sing, and I am the Principal Percussionist of the Saratoga Orchestra.

My personal goal is to teach students how to become successful, responsible, and happy adults, regardless of their career path, through the study of music.  First and foremost, I am a teacher, qualified with a diverse portfolio of musical experiences & skills.  As a performer and manager of jazz, rock, metal, mariachi, marching, South American, Indian, and classical music ensembles, I am willing and able to teach any child about any style of music.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me at bnelson@ohsd.net.

    Sincerely,
    Brandon Nelson
