What should I do if my student is absent?

If your student is going to be absent please notify us the same day by
    or
by calling the attendance line at 360.279.5503.
You may also send your student with a note within 48 hours upon their return.

If you have a pre-planned event where your student will be out of school for 2 or more days, please send us a note 3 days ahead of the absence. We then will give your student a contract to take around to their teachers and obtain homework.  In the event that an illness causes an extended absence, we may also be able to gather assignments that were missed, but please note that it may take teachers 24-48 hours to have assignments ready for pick-up.

    Excuse notes must include:
    • Student's full name
    • The date/s and reason for the absence/s
    • A parent/guardian signature and the current date

An excused absence may consist of:
    • Absences relating to deployment or military functions
    • Participation in a school-approved activity
    • Absence due to illness, health condition, or family emergency
    • Absence resulting from disciplinary actions or short-term suspension
    • Extended illness or health condition, Dr.'s note may be needed
    • Absence for a chronic health condition, Dr.'s note may be needed
    • Absence relating to post highschool planning, for example, college campus visit
    • Absences relating to COVID-19

    Homework during an absence
Students should be checking their Google classrooms for assignments. They may reach out via email to their teachers with any questions or for any specific directions. A parent may check for completed and missing assignments in the gradebook section of skyward family access.  If you do not know your family access login/password, please contact the front office at (360)279-5500.
If your student is going to be absent for an extended period of time, please follow the instructions above regarding preplanned absences.
