Counseling Overview

  • Our counseling program is an essential part of the primary educational mission of the school. Our program is designed to meet the American School Counselor Association standards by working with students on academic, careers, and personal and social development. More specifically, we work with students to develop self-awareness, lifelong learning skills, and interpersonal communication skills.  Our counselors collaborate with school staff, student families, and the community to plan, coordinate, and implement services.

School Counselor

  • My name is Carla Hurst and I am looking forward to working with your children as the school counselor at OVE! I have been part of Oak Harbor Public Schools since 2007 as a school counselor at Oak Harbor High School. My counseling approach is one built from trust, caring and always a bit of humor for good measure!

On a personal side, I live in Anacortes with my husband and dog, Enzo. We have five adult children and one grandchild who we love spending time with. We are active in local community theater and I enjoy both acting and directing. I also enjoy spending time traveling, reading and enjoying the outdoors. I look forward to meeting you and working together to support the wonderful students at OVE!
