Parent Internet Safety & Digital Literacy Sessions

The White Hatter is an internet safety and digital literacy education specialist company based in North America. They travel to facilitate workshops and provide presentations for both students in grades 4-12 and to parents on technology safety and privacy subjects. Oak Harbor Public Schools is proud to bring The White Hatter expertise to our students and families in an effort to bring increased awareness of these important safety matters.
The White Hatter will host three parent-education sessions for Oak Harbor Public Schools families. These programs will be virtual, LIVE events and will offer Q & A at the end of each program.
To Join: Please click on the link provided, enter the password and you will then be given access to the SLIDO/VIMEO platform for the live event. It is strongly recommended that parents sign into the event 10 minutes prior to the scheduled event going live.
Links will remain open for 48hrs after the live event has concluded, to ensure that those who could not attend the live event can have access to a recording.

Helping parents to proactively understand the enabling power of technology and mobile communications, but also how to mitigate the sometimes unintended consequences of high-risk or undesirable online behavior.

Tues Oct 25 | 7-8 p.m. | Teen Sexting, Nudes, Distribution of Intimate Images and the Law
This program covers teen “sexting” based on academic peer-reviewed research, laws, and our investigative experience to help teens understand consent, choices, consequences, and how they can take specific actions to reduce legal liability and reduce harm emotionally, psychologically, physically, and socially specific to this subject.
