Important Family Information

  • THE START OF SCHOOL

Family Connection Conferences Sept 7 and 8
One of the other positive things we learned from last school year was the value of Family Connection Conferences at the start of the school year to give students and families a chance to meet their teachers, learn the school layout, find their desks and take care of any paperwork.

WAKids Conferences for incoming Kindergarten Sep 7-9
Our full-day kindergarten is part of the WaKIDS initiative. To get the school year off to a positive start, WaKIDS kindergarten teachers must meet with each family and student before school starts to discuss the child’s strengths and needs. The funding program for WaKIDS requires this conference before your student can start school.  We will be sending you a  booklet you can use to prepare for your meeting with your child’s teacher.  We hope you and your child will have fun discussing the questions ahead of time.  Please bring the booklet with you to the meeting as well.  More information will be sent to kindergarten families before the conferences.

**** There is no district transportation on Conference Days. The first day of bus service is Sept. 9 for Grades 1-4, Sept. 10 for Kindergarten.

Our conference scheduler will be open on August 30 at 4:00 pm (login to Skyward to find your teacher’s name and select your conference time).  When you show up, we will greet you out front, take care of any paperwork, and then make sure you get to your child’s classroom for an individual conference to kick off the year!

    PREPARING FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR

    Update Personal Information in Skyward
You may have received an email asking you to go into Skyward to update information in your student’s record, such as address, contact information, emergency contacts, and more.  Please take time to do this so that we have the most accurate information.  If you need help, don't hesitate to get in touch with our registrar at 360-279-5250.

    Need Busing?
If you plan for your student to ride a school bus this year, you must complete a Transportation Request Form.  Even if your child received transportation services in previous years, families still need to fill out the transportation form. No action is required of families who don’t need our school bus services.  Also, students participating in our SPED programs with an IEP for transportation will automatically enroll in our program.

    Free & Reduced Lunch Forms
Even though Free meals will be provided to all students (more information below), we strongly encourage all parents to submit a free or reduced meal application for their household.  Filling out a meal application may help provide many resources for your student and their school.  In addition, eligible families who fill out the form before August 31 may qualify for P-EBT benefits. You may pick up an application at any school or the district office.  Electronic forms are available on our website or by accessing the Food Service tab in Skyward Family Access.

    IN CONCLUSION

We are excited for the upcoming school year.  It will be important for students to find a sense of belonging at Broad View Elementary School after a disjointed school year.  More information will come out through email, the BVE Website, and our Facebook page in the coming weeks.
