Grading Update

  • Dear Oak Harbor Intermediate Families,

Our teachers are committed to helping your child grow socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. Pandemic learning has presented many challenges for students, families, and staff. In response to these challenges, our team will be making adjustments to grading starting today.

Students will no longer receive D or F grades on their report cards. A, B, and C grades will still be assigned based on students’ meeting the content standards at higher levels of proficiency.  If a student does not meet the criteria to receive an A-C grade, they will receive an "MP" for Making Progress or "NP" for No Progress. There were a variety of factors that led our team to move in this direction, but in an effort to keep students motivated and engaged through the rest of the school year we felt this was a necessary move.

We value providing high-quality education at Oak Harbor Intermediate and this change will not affect those standards. However, we cannot ignore the hardships many of our students are facing with distance learning in this pandemic.  Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together in these challenging times.

If you have specific questions about grades, please contact your child’s teacher.
