  • End of the Year Outing

Posted by Kelly Kellogg on 5/17/2021

Hello Exceptional Academy (those new to us and our returning students),

It is that time of year where we invite our soon-to-be Exceptional Academy cohorts to an outing. We introduce ourselves and we get to know one another so the first day of class doesn’t really feel like the first day but more like a reunion.

While we have traditionally hosted this outing, this year (as with everything) has been more complicated to plan. While our events are typically student only, we are opening this to families as a special event and we would really like to see you all there. What is our family event?

    It's a night at the drive-in!

Please RSVP via email with a car confirmation to this email no later than Friday May 21st to ensure your space. Without this confirmation, we cannot guarantee a space. Admission is free for everyone. For all Exceptional Academy students (current and incoming) we will buy you a small popcorn and soda. Due to the late hour of this fun night out, class will be cancelled on Tuesday, May 25th (for current EA students) if you attend this fun event on May 24th.

If you do not attend this event on May 24th  AND YOU ARE A CURRENT STUDENT, you will be expected to attend class on Tuesday, May 25th.

If you have any questions about this fun family event as always, don’t hesitate to ask.

    See you at the drive-in!

Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Schuldt and The Exceptional Academy Crew

  • Flags and Flowers

Posted by Kelly Kellogg on 5/11/2021

    Hello EA!

As you all know, the students work very hard every year to support the charity of choice they have selected. Similar to most things this year, supporting our charity of choice has been more challenging than usual. The EA students selected Flags and Flowers for Vets to support this year. (https://prestonsharp.net/) If you want to learn more about our work in supporting this charity, check it out on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ExceptionalAcademyOakHarborWA

It is time to place our Flags and Flowers to honor our Vets. Beginning on Thursday, May 13th we will be visiting Maple Leaf Cemetery (O.H.), Sunnyside Cemetery (Coupeville) and Fircrest Cemetery (O.H.). The placement of flags and poppies are done in a ceremonial and respectful way. This means it will take time. We are committed to honoring our Vets properly and providing the time this requires. While we will begin our flags and flowers placement on May 13th, we are not sure when this endeavour will be complete. We thank you in advance for your flexibility in working with us to ensure we are giving this our best.

We have asked the students to wear appropriate clothing and shoes that are comfortable and safe for a field-like setting. (aka cemetery). As we begin to wind down with our flag and poppies ceremonies, we will give you our best estimate of our last day.

Thank you once again for you support of our work with Flags and Flowers for Vets,

    The Exceptional Academy

  • Dress for Success

Posted by Kelly Kellogg on 5/10/2021

    Hello EA,

Just a reminder that tomorrow is 'dress for success' day! We are dressing business casual to practice our interview skills. By dressing interview ready, this puts us in the right frame of mind to really invest in our interview practice.
    As a refresher:
    Ladies and gentlemen no jeans
A button up shirt for gentlemen/ladies or blouse for ladies
No tennis shoes and closed toe shoes for ladies
    Socks with shoes for gentlemen.

See you tomorrow ready to practice interviews!
