1st Graders | Flexible and Supportive
As an artist and art teacher, I look for and teach artistic behaviors to students from the very minute they step foot in the art room. This year our first-grade classes exhibited the artistic skills of flexibility, adaptability, collaboration, and resilience! Mid-year, the first graders experienced changes in their classes and classrooms. I am so proud of how students managed these changes. Many became leaders in keeping the arts focus while making an effort to support others in this change.
Their polar bears and penguin projects exemplify their flexibility. The marbled backgrounds for the polar bears were a challenge, and many students supported others by helping them in the marbling process. And those that were absent for polar bears or pine cone owls were quickly caught up with the support of others who could teach/model both of these processes. Future leaders!
