• Mental Health Counselor

Oak Harbor Public Schools are able to provide some direct mental health support during the school day. This program is growing and developing this year. NWMS is lucky to have Ms. Andrich at our school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternating Wednesdays.
What can our Mental Health Counselor do to support you?
    • Provide individual and group counseling to students for the purpose of addressing and resolving behavioral health issues as needed.
Provide consultation and assists parents in accessing resources in order to enhance the social/emotional development of participating youth.
    • Provide onsite counseling for students and families in crisis, as needed.
    • Be a listening ear and provide a non judgemental space for students experiencing a social/emotional challenge (Ie. anxiety, depression, anger, grief & loss, relationships & family)

How can your student see our Mental Health Counselor?

Students can be referred by school counselors and school administrators. Speak to your student's school counselor if you would like a mental health counselor referral.

  • Meet Our Counselor:

Laura Andrich received her Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver and her certificate in Animal Assisted Social Work. Ms. Andrich has worked with both adults and children in a private practice setting, providing individual mental health counseling. Additionally, Ms. Andrich has worked in the Colorado school district as a school social worker, providing mental health support to middle school students and serving students on Individual Education Plans. Ms. Andrich is excited to be back home in the PNW, as she was born and raised in Anacortes! She enjoys climbing mountains with her dog and looks forward to skiing the slopes at Mount Baker this winter. Above all, she is honored to be in a position where she can provide equitable mental health services to the OHSD community!
