I don't regularly assign homework in my class, other than nightly reading. If a student has unfinished work, they need to bring it home to complete it. I will also encourage them to practice their weekly spelling words. Students do need to read 30 minutes every night. I recommend doing so before bed. This is a wonderful way to calm the body. I will be checking planners on Fridays to see that students documented their reading and acquired a signature from a parent. If you write/send me a note PLEASE ask your child to show it to me or have them place it in my classroom mailbox. I don’t want to use crucial teaching time checking each planner daily.
