One of the key components of the Physical Education program at BVE is the concept of Physical Literacy. This is about developing the fundamental movement skills that all children need in order to give them confidence to participate in various physical activities and sports as they grow. Just as students develop reading, writing, and math skills, they also need to develop the ability to move with confidence and competence in a wide variety of activities and environments. If students are confident with fundamental movement skills, they will are more likely to have long-term participation in physical activities and be able to perform to the best of their abilities. Active for Life is an excellent website that parents can use to help their students practice Physical Literacy. The videos below also explain this concept.
