Enabling all students to reach their full potential

Children with developmental concerns or disabilities affecting their performance in school are offered individualized services through our district's special education programs.
Special education classrooms are integrated into all schools, supported by highly-qualified staff. Each student is evaluated, resulting in an Individual Education Plan specifically designed to meet his or her needs. Students enrolled receive individually-based instruction at least half of each school day.
It is very important to us in Oak Harbor Public Schools to ensure each student has the support and services they need to be successful. The Special Programs department provides services and programs for students who require specially-designed instruction to meet academic standards. The programs are multi-faceted with Learning Centers in each of the schools to support staff and students.
Since early intervention has been shown to be a major factor in the development of children with disabilities, an early screening process is provided and pre-school education is available for eligible children.
