Rachel Harris

  • Hello!

My name is Rachel Harris and I am so excited to be teaching my 10th year of Special Education preschool. This is my second year in Oak Harbor and I absolutely love it here; I have taught for the previous eight years in Mount Vernon in a very similar preschool program. I graduated from Western Washington University with my teaching degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood, and Special Education in 2009. I went back to school and graduated with my Masters in Special Education/Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Washington in 2016. I grew up in Mount Vernon but have family here on the island and have spent a lot of time over here growing up. I have two little ones of my own; my son is 5, and just started Kindergarten, and my daughter is 3, and just starting preschool herself. Being a mama is simply the best!

I am looking forward to working with your child and seeing the progress that we will make together this year!

I have a fabulous paraeducator Jessica Deckwa and we have been a team for a year now.
