Each month your child will bring home a READO sheet. You will have that entire month to work on the sheet, initial the blocks completed, and then return to me at the end of the month. These activities will give extra practice to the concepts we are working on in class.
Next, your student will also have access to the program Keyboarding Without Tears. They will be able to log on to that website and do an activity a day from home. These activities will only take a few minutes. Spending just a few moments to do these activities will help in developing their keyboarding skills. If your student does not have internet access, no need to worry. They will also have time during school to work on this.
Last, but not least, I will provide each student with one R.E.D. folder that they will use to log their reading times. Students are expected to have 10 minutes of reading time at least five times a week. This can mean they tell you a story by looking at pictures, they practice their reading by finding the words they have learned, or you may read to them. Please return the folders to school each Monday for me to check and record for their homework grade.
Grades are recorded with one of four grade letters:
O - Outstanding for exceeding expectations
S - Satisfactory for meeting expectations
P - Progressing towards grade level expectations
N - Needs improvement
Report Cards - Family Access
Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each trimester and students are assessed in accordance with Oak Harbor Public Schools board policy. Parents can view their children's information by checking online in Skyward Family Access, a secure system that allows you to check attendance and more. Account information is provided to each family by the school office at the start of the school year. Talk to our school front office about Family Access or learn more here. Skyward Family Access.
