Ranks in NJROTC are earned based on a Cadets dedication and display of the Navy Core values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.
NJROTC Enlisted Ranks
Seaman Recruit - Earned once enrolled in the NJROTC program
Seaman Apprentice - Earned once cadet has completed Mini-Boot Camp
Seaman - Given after one successful Semester within the program
Petty Officer Third Class - Earned after taking a written knowledge test after 2 total Semesters (1 yr)
Petty Officer Second Class - Earned after taking a written knowledge test after 3 total Semesters (1.5 yrs)
Petty Officer First Class - Earned after taking a written knowledge test after 4 total Semesters (2 yrs)
Chief Petty Officer - Earned after taking a written knowledge test after 5 total Semesters (2.5 yrs)
Senior Chief Petty Officer - Given by SNSI/NSI if earned.
Master Chief Petty Officer - Given by SNSI/NSI if earned.
NJROTC Officer Ranks
All officer ranks are given to those on the Battalion Staff, which are cadets in their third or fourth year in the NJROTC program.
NJROTC Ribbons
Ribbons are earned based on service to the Unit, for a detailed explanation refer to the Field Manual.
