    Homework

Please, please, please read with your student! That is the only homework I choose to give because it makes a giant difference in their learning throughout all their life. Read every night for 15-20 minutes and when your student starts to read have them start reading during that time. I strongly encourage play (non-electronic) instead of the extra homework. We work hard in first grade and I know they need time to let their brains reset. ;)

Once in a blue moon I may send home a work that your student didn't have time to complete. Please have them complete it and return it as soon as possible. Thank you!

    Grades

Grades are recorded with one of four grade letters:
O - Outstanding for exceeding expectations
S - Satisfactory for meeting expectations
P - Progressing towards grade level expectations
       N - Needs improvement

Students are free to redo an assignment to improve their understanding of the concepts and their score.  The assignment will need to be completed as soon as possible for credit.

    Report Cards - Family Access

Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each trimester and students are assessed in accordance with Oak Harbor Public Schools board policy. Parents can view their children's information by checking online in Skyward Family Access, a secure system that allows you to check attendance and more. Account information is provided to each family by the school office at the start of the school year. Talk to our school front office about Family Access or learn more here. Skyward Family Access.
