For students who have a life-threatening health condition

At the beginning of each school year, prior to attendance at school, each child with a life-threatening health condition must present a medication or treatment order, signed by the parent and a licensed healthcare provider, addressing the condition. A life-threatening health condition is a condition that will put the child in danger of death during the school day if a medication or treatment order, providing authority to a registered nurse to act upon a nursing plan, is not in place. Students who have a life-threatening health condition and no medication or treatment order presented to the school shall be excluded from school, according to School Board policy, consistent with federal IDEA Section 504 requirements and Washington State Law.
