Hi,
I teach 7th grade Health, 8th grade P.E.
It is with joy and humbleness that I look forward to having the privilege of being your child’s Health or Physical Education teacher. I love teaching middle school students and rooting for them to succeed. The early-teen years are such a rich time of growth; I am eager to support and partner with you empowering your child to thrive.
I have taught secondary school-aged adolescents for more than 20 years as a Teacher, Coach and Youth Minister. One of my favorite experiences has been leading student leadership teams to Tijuana, Mexico and building homes to help alleviate poverty.
Health students study the four aspects of health: mental, social, physical, and emotional. They learn and practice skills that promote wellness like active listening, developing responsible relationships and nutrition. Physical Education students have opportunities to mature in respect, integrity, determination and empathy through cooperative games and team-sports. And increase their individual fitness level, skills and knowledge and strategies of a variety of sports like pickleball, volleyball, speedball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, flag football, hockey, and badminton.
Our program strives to provide students with the skills, knowledge and confidence that will enable them to become a lifelong physically active person. It is our desire students understand the importance of physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the lifetime benefits of health, fitness, and wellness.
I have found NWMS staff to be highly supportive, student-centered and an outstanding place for students to flourish. My expectations are to provide a place where students can explore and learn in a safe, supportive and challenging environment.
