Culinary, Restaurant Management teams sweep as state champs
The Wildcat Culinary Team successfully defended its state title at the 2013 Boyd’s Coffee ProStart Invitational in early March, this time with the Restaurant Management Team providing a clean sweep. This is the fifth time in the last six years the culinary team has won the state trophy. The Restaurant Management Team has taken the championship three of the last four years. Congratulations to culinary teacher Mary Arthur and chef mentor Scott Fraser, of Fraser’s Gourmet Hideaway. Both teams will represent Washington at the national ProStart Invitational in Baltimore in late April.

The culinary team consists of Haley Garden, Sara Jackson, Joanna Leete, Racheal Balasa, and alternate Cahle Williams. The restaurant management team is made up of Patrick Salgado, Michelle Lambert, and Robert Clemena. In addition to their gold medals, these students also received more than $100,000 in scholarship offers at many culinary and hospitality schools across the country.

The “Baltimore or Bust” dinner will be held at the Elk’s Club on Sunday, March 24, starting at 5:30 pm. Cost is $40. Write wildcatcatering@ohsd.net or call 279-5760 to reserve your place at the table.
