SPANISH

SPANISH I
Course Code WLO1S1
Syllabus:
Spanish I
Grades: 9, 10, 11
Prerequisites: Seniors will only be admitted on a space available basis following registration. Length: one year/one credit


This is an introductory immersion course in the Spanish language and culture. The focus is on speaking and comprehending the Spanish language, as well as basic reading and writing skills. Focus on pretense verbs. Note: English will not be spoken in this class.


SPANISH II

Grades: 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Spanish I.
Length: one year/one credit


This course further develops the Spanish reading, writing and speaking skills. Focus on past tense verbs. Note: English will not be spoken in this class.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Spanish II.

This is an advanced Spanish speaking, reading and writing skills course. Focus on future and past tense verbs. Note: English will not be spoken in this class.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Spanish III.
Length: one year/one credit


Students will perfect and acquire advanced grammar through literature, poetry, songs, movies, and verbal stories. They will discuss, share opinions, and analyze contemporary issues, along with writing comparison, expository and persuasive papers. Each student will keep a daily journal. Note: English will not be spoken in this class

Prerequisites: Successful completion of French II.

This course is for advanced French skills in speaking, reading, and writing. Students get the opportunity to teach in the elementary schools during the year. Note: English will not be spoken in this class.


FRENCH IV

Prerequisites: Successful completion of French III.
Length: one year/one credit


Students will continue to acquire vocabulary, grammar, and conversation through speaking, reading, writing, and teaching French.. These students will continue the partnership we have with local grade schools and teach there once a week (November-May).


JAPANESE

JAPANESE I

Grades: 9, 10, 11
Prerequisites: Seniors will only be admitted on a space available basis following registration.
Length: one year/one credit


This course will offer the fundamentals of the Japanese language, including reading and writing. Students will be introduced to the cultural differences between East and West.


JAPANESE II
Course Code WLO2J2
Grades: 9 (with teacher permission) 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Japanese I.
Length: one year/one credit


This course further develops reading, writing, and speaking skills in the Japanese language. Japanese culture and social interrelations are emphasized.


JAPANESE III

Grades: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Successful completion of Japanese II.
Length: one year/one credit


This is an advance Japanese speaking, reading, and writing skills course.
