Student Programs

There is no single structure that will fit all 5,600 students attending Oak Harbor schools, yet each student deserves the opportunity to meet his or her own potential. A variety of student programs have been developed to offer a wider breadth of opportunity at all grade levels.

• Full-day Everyday kindergarten is offered at Oak Harbor Elementary school.
  
• Preschool and HeadStart is available for special ed students who need more preparation before starting kindergarten
  
• Bilingual assistance is offered to students for whom English is a second language.
• The SAC (formerly SAFE) program provides after school care for elementary students.
  
• A Gifted/Talented program provides extra challenges at the elementary level.
• Advanced Placement classes offer higher challenges and college credit.
  
• Running Start allows high school students to attend college courses.
  
• The high school's Career-Technical program provides the widest selection of courses in the region.
• Tech Prep provides free college credit for Career-Technical courses taught at the high school.
• Midway High School provides alternative placement for at-risk students and alternative learners.
  
• The School of Choice at Oak Harbor Elementary includes uniforms and high parental involvement.
  
• The district provides support for home schoolers through the HomeConnection.
