Every school district receives
state funding based on a formula.

What sets one district apart from another
is the local contribution through a school levy.

Oak Harbor passed a new four-year levy beginning in 2014. Only half of the levy increase will be available for the 2013-14 school year. Once it's fully implemented, Oak Harbor's Levy will fund:

  • All textbooks
  • All student computers - computer-to-student ratio of 1:5
  • All athletics
  • Tutoring
  • Most after-school activities
  • Half of school maintenance
  • 34 teachers
  • 50 support staff
  • Advanced Placement classes
  • 30 extra minutes learning time per day for elementary and middle schools
  • Extra help for safety and learning in Special Education
  • Elementary art and P.E. specialists
