About Clover Valley

Clover Valley: Achievement Centered

Clover Valley Elementary is an achievement centered learning community, which includes students, teacher, support staff, parents and administrators. Clover Valley strives to be a world-class school, focusing on individual children, setting learning goals which challenge them to fulfill their highest unique potential at each stage of growth and development. We believe in providing a safe, nurturing, well-structured environment in which each person learns to take increased responsibility for his or her actions. We are dedicated to creating self-motivated, life long learners. Our wildly important academic goal is to increase student performance in the area of Reading. Other academic areas receiving strong emphasis are Mathematics and Writing.

ART: All students at Clover Valley Elementary School attend art class once a week. In art we explore many artists, art styles, art techniques, and art media. The artwork of Clover Valley artists can be seen on display throughout the school as well as in occasional displays in the community.

COUNSELING: The Counseling Program is based on a comprehensive, developmental model. It assists students in the development of problem solving and decision-making skills. It focuses on assisting students in the areas of social and emotional growth and educational planning. Delivery of the program is through classroom guidance activities, brief individual and small group counseling, crisis intervention and responsive services, consultation with and support of parents, staff, and administration, and coordination with external resources. The counseling program is cooperative and flexible.

LIBRARY: The remodeled library has been expanded to have more space for housing the collection and to provide computer stations. The library is open at recess time and after school for use by the students. Each year selected students are involved in advanced writing workshops and attend the Young Authors Workshop at Skagit Valley College.

MUSIC: Clover Valley has a comprehensive music program that affords all students an exposure to music which includes music awareness, understanding, and opportunities to participate in a variety of music activities. Each child participates in at least one musical performance each year and music instruction targets Washington's Essential Academic Learning Requirements in Art. Third, fourth and fifth grade students are invited to sing in the Clover Valley Choir, which performs at assemblies and in our community.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: The Clover Valley PE Program covers all areas of physical skills and fitness. We also work on social skills and development through working in individual, partner and group situations and challenges. Students in grades 1-5, along with Special Education, receive a 30-minute lesson in PE twice per week, and Kindergarten once per week. Twice a week at lunch recess there are physical education activities for selected grades. We love PE at CVE!
