Hi! My name is Sadie. Welcome to my webpage! I'm the Broad View school dog and I'd like to introduce myself!
I started being the Broad View school dog in September, 2005. I live at the principal's house and I'm her second Corgi school dog; the first one was Sophie. Besides coming to school, I love being active on Whidbey Island. You will find me taking long walks, swimming at Double Bluff beach, camping, taking naps and playing in the sprinkler. My neighbor, Rosebud, is an older Pembroke Corgi who was Sophie's sister. We play chase in the yard and go for walks in the woods with Ms. Swanson. We both like treats and barking at the donkeys that live in the nearby pasture.
- How did you get to be a school dog? I was chosen by Ms. Swanson because I have a nice personality and get along with children. She brings me to school to be with the kids; that makes me a school dog! I've taken Obedience Training Classes so I can learn good manners and follow the school rules. I also have all my shots and a health certificate.
- What kind of dog are you?
I'm a tri-color (how many?) Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Corgis were bred for herding sheep and fowl in Wales. I've never done that, but I wish I could try it!
- How old are you?
I was born on March 7, 2005. I'll bet you can figure out how old I am!
- Why don't you have a tail?
Pembroke Corgis don't have tails. Our cousins, the Cardigan Corgis DO have tails!
- What does a school dog do?
I hang out in my kennel in the principal's office, go for walks outside and visit classrooms for special occasions. Students and staff members will pet me and of course, I love attention! Sometimes kids are upset and I help them calm down. I spread love and smiles to everyone I meet.
- What is your favorite toy?
I love Hedginald or "Hedgie," the brown furry hedgehog with a squeaker. I have a pink and green cloth Frisbee that I chew on. Unlike labs, I don't fetch. I LOVE to play in my water dish.
- What's the best thing about being at Broad View?
My favorite time of day is 2:00pm when the all-school walk begins because I get to go outside for exercise with the children and staff. I like it when the students run with me after the walk!.
- Is it OK to hug you?
No, Ms. Swanson doesn't allow students to hug me. When you pet me or play with me, please make sure I sit or stand on the ground. I'm not allowed to jump up or give kisses. I know you will be gentle and careful around me. I'm small and don't want anyone to step on me!
I'm a Broad View Explorer! Arff! Hey kids, if you have a question to ask me, leave a note for me at the office and I'll answer on my website. Don't worry, I won't put your name on the question.
